Thanks for sharing these interesting ideas. I will have to point my husband to you site. He just loves things like. I am sure that he has a couple of old computers in the basement somewhere, in some form or another.

Yes, that's the entire point. There's so little real-world purpose for strict xhtml compliance right now. For those who are truly "my source code validates" purists, there are corresponding hacks needed to meet user-sourced functional requirements. This is one of those hacks.

Personally, I'm not a fan, but it was an interesting exercise.

FYI: This method only hides the non-compliant error from the source page validation and places the non-compliant error into the runtime page since ultimately it is still calling _blank.

It might be better now than it was. There were several data plans -- I had the one with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited SMS. There might be cheaper options now, but I'm not missing it enough to justify the expense. It's not that bad being a geek without a geek phone, actually. Granted, I wish I had access to a lot of what the iPhone has to offer. It would make some things a LOT easier. On the other hand, it's one fewer device to maintain, one fewer thing to have giving me excuses to not do something else. It's better to spend my time on other things than tooling around on my phone, which I certainly did back when I could tweet/browse/play games/etc.

Good thinking on cost factoring. I wonder why the monthly bill for internet access is so high - ours is less than $30 a month. I'm loving my Curve especially when we travel. It must be incredibly frustrating to be a geek and not have a geek phone!
